The BRICS Towards Rio + 20: Russia
Russia, who participated in Rio + 20, submitted to the conference’s organization the document Inputs of the Russian Federation to the outcome document of the UN Conference on sustainable development ‘RIO + 20’ in November 2011. In the document, Russia outlined its preliminary position with regard to the conference, explaining its expectation regarding the possible results of the negotiations, outlining its vision of a new sustainable development paradigm, presenting its proposal on the institutional framework to be adopted and, finally, defining the green economy. In this BRICS Monitor, we examined the Russian document, as we have done in previous Monitors with the documents of Brazil, China, India and South Africa.
