Maria Elena, a researcher at the BRICS Policy Center, was part of the group of professors and researchers from the four PUC-Rio Centers (CTC, CTCH, CCS and CCBS) who went to Belém and the island of Marajó, in Pará, to begin the concrete actions of the Amazonizar Project. The trip provided an open dialog with local populations, as well as meetings with community leaders to address fundamental issues related to sustainable development in the region and strengthen cultural bridges that collaborate with the preservation of the rich Marajoara history.
