Sustainable Infrastructure

This booklet will study the fundamental role that sustainable infrastructure can play in the implementation of public policies, both globally and regionally. Currently, the sustainable agenda on the international scene can be identified as political leaders from various countries and continents strive to adopt political measures that encourage the adoption of this infrastructure in four dimensions: economic, environmental, social, and institutional.

In short, the economic dimension assesses the cost-benefit of projects through profitability and efficiency; the environmental dimension addresses the mitigation of climate change and resilience to natural disasters, focusing on reducing pollutants and efficient use of resources; the social dimension focuses on the equitable distribution of benefits and mitigation of negative impacts on the community; and, finally, the institutional dimension ensures the alignment of investments with national and international strategies, promoting transparent governance (Afonso; Ribeiro, 2023).
