BRICS and its growing role in global GDP: Interview with Ana Garcia for the digital newspaper Poder360
Ana Garcia, professor and general coordinator of the BRICS Policy Center, gave an interview to the newspaper Poder360 on August 20 about the bloc’s growing share of global GDP, which has reached 25.5%. The professor explored the reasons for this growth, including the intensification of economic activity in the Asian members, India and China, and the size and youthfulness of the member countries’ populations. She also talked about the possibility of new members joining and said that “the issue is the coalition that is taking place around a more geopolitical aspect and that will generate a pole of continuous attraction for those countries that seek to move away from the Western axis and balance power in the international structure.”
