The Labyrinth of Brazil: Between Regionalism, BRICS, and Human Rights

The foreign policy of Lula’s third government is marked by three intertwined priorities: regional integration, reassessment of global geopolitical balances, and the search for new economic partners. However, in the face of a more uncertain and tense global situation, Brazil today finds itself with reduced political and economic influence—even within the BRICS, a bloc increasingly influenced by China. The challenge is to help shape a policy of active non-alignment for Latin America, maintaining an equal distance from Washington and Beijing while advocating for human rights, denuclearization, and environmental protection.
