Professor and senior researcher at the BRICS Policy Center, Carlos Frederico Coelho, takes part in Sputnik’s roundtable

On August 31, Carlos Frederico Coelho, a senior researcher at the BRICS Policy Center, took part in the online format of Sputnik’s International Multimedia Press Center roundtable. The panel also included the director of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and member of the BRICS National Research Committee, Mikhail Golovnin, the chairman of the Scientific Council of the BRICS National Research Committee and scientific director of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Davydov, the director of the BRICS Institute of India, Binod Singh Ajatshatru, and the associate professor of the School of Politics and International Relations and deputy director of the Center for Russian Studies of the East China Pedagogical University, Zhang Xin.

Carlos’ participation focused on the group’s economic and political strength, highlighting the importance of Argentina’s membership for Brazil, in order to optimize the partners’ monetary and exchange relations.
“The BRICS countries have constantly emphasized the idea that they want to balance the international order and the economic system formed after the Second World War. It’s a very ambitious project, the implementation of which will take many, many years. It will also require enormous political will. I think we can conclude that this political will exists and that the BRICS countries want to build a more multipolar world,” said the senior researcher.
