THE SSC-PROJECT PARTICIPATE IN THE SEMINAR “BRAZILIAN COOPERATION IN FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY AND AGRICULTURE: RELATIONS BETWEEN BRAZIL AND AFRICA” IN CERESAN/UFRRJ

On December 1 and 2, 2014, researchers Geovana Zoccal and Manaíra Assunção, from the SSC-Project and International Cooperation for Development research group, represented the BRICS Policy Center in several events under the project, “Strengthening Brazil’s role in international spaces for a global agenda for the human right to food and for hunger eradication”. Professor Renato Maluf, from the Reference Center in Food and Nutrition Security at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (CERESAN/CPDA/UFRRJ), coordinated the project with support from Oxfam Brazil.

A design workshop, limited to a few guests, was held on the first day about the “Challenges to building an international agenda in Sovereignty and Food and Nutrition Security – SSAN: South-South Cooperation”.  The following day, they held the seminar “Brazilian Cooperation in FNS and Agriculture: Relations Between Brazil and Africa”, open to the public. The Brazilian, Mozambican and Cape Verdean academic community participated and other scholar representatives of Brazil-Africa relations, as well as representatives of the Brazilian government and civil society.

During the seminar, SSC-Project researcher Geovana Zoccal, gave the following lecture “Beyond the capillary: Brazilian structural cooperation in public health and FNS”.
