Both the researchers are in the Center through the programme\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.primo-itn.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Power and Region in a Multipolar Order (PRIMO).<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>M\u00f3nica R\u00f3driguez<\/strong>\u00a0will approach themes linked to the environment in\u00a0<strong>\u201cFrom Common but Differentiated Responsabilities to \u2018Concentric Circles\u2019: The Brazilian proposal to adress climate change in a world of unequal development\u201d<\/strong>. Her speech will lead from the idea that countries share responsibilities in relation to the environment, but that these responsibilities are differentiated according to the amount of pollutants the country emits. With this in mind, R\u00f3driguez will also approach the position of Brazil, which proposes to distribute the effects of mitigation in \u201cconcentric circles\u201d. This colloquium will be held at\u00a0<strong>03:00 p.m<\/strong>\u00a0and the moderator of the seminar will be the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/sobre_equipe_academica\/details\/215\" target=\"_self\">Supervisor General of the BPC, Paulo Esteves (IRI\/PUC-Rio).<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Melina Breitegger<\/strong>, for her part, will analyse in\u00a0<strong>\u201cContested Terrain: South Africa\u2019s and Brazil\u2019s role in regional organization\u201d<\/strong>, the position of Brazil and South Africa in their respective meetings and how the presence of International Organisations offers the opportunity for them to engage in regional politics without being perceived as wanting to be hegemonic powers or bullies. Breitegger will use as an example the Union of South American Nations (UNASUL) and the African Union (UA).
