{"id":7775,"date":"2017-02-01T16:43:12","date_gmt":"2017-02-01T18:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devbrq.fazti.com.br\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=7775"},"modified":"2018-08-30T16:44:56","modified_gmt":"2018-08-30T19:44:56","slug":"t20-africa-conference-building-alliances-for-sustainable-development","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/en\/eventos\/t20-africa-conference-building-alliances-for-sustainable-development\/","title":{"rendered":"T20 Africa Conference: Building alliances for sustainable development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Represented by its\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/agenda\/sobre_equipe_academica\/details\/215\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General Supervisor, Prof. Paulo Esteves<\/a><\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>BRICS Policy Cente<\/strong>r participated on the\u00a0<strong>\u201cT20 Africa Conference: Building alliances for sustainable development\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0that was held on<strong>\u00a0February 01st and 02nd, 2017<\/strong>, in\u00a0<strong>Johannesburg, South Africa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The event was co-organized by\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saiia.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAIIA<\/a><\/strong>, the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.die-gdi.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0German Development Institute (DIE)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifw-kiel.de\/kiel-institute-for-the-world-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute for the World Economy (IfW Kiel)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and it had the support of the<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gegafrica.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Global Economic Governance Africa (GEG Africa)<\/a><\/strong>. The conference was an opportunity for university and think tank leaders, policymakers from South Africa and Germany, international and Africa organizations to discuss<strong>\u00a0how Africa and the G20 can build alliances for the sustainable development.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amongst the topics discussed there were:\u00a0<strong>(i) infrastructure investment and industrialization; (ii) e-commerce and the digital economy; (iii) extractives, taxes and illicit financial flows; (iv) agriculture, food security and climate; (v) trade and investment; (vi) enabling social and political environments.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Paulo Esteves<\/strong>\u00a0spoke on the\u00a0<strong>\u201cAgriculture, Food Security and Climate Action\u201d table<\/strong>, in which the interests and opportunities in cooperation between Africa and the G20, amongst other global initatives (such as G7\/G8, UE-Africa, BRICS and others) were discussed.
