The event was an initiative of the<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/projetos\/Index\/17\" target=\"_self\">Socio Environmental Platform of BPC<\/a><\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gip.net.br\/novo\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Public Interest Management (GIP)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/devinit.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Development Initatives (DI)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and had the participation of\u00a0<strong>Rafael de Soler<\/strong>, from the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itamaraty.gov.br\/pt-BR\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brazilian\u00a0Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mariela di Ciommo<\/strong>, from\u00a0<strong>DI<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alice Amorim<\/strong>, from\u00a0<strong>GIP<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/sobre_equipe_academica\/details\/215\" target=\"_self\">Paulo Esteves, General Supervisor of BPC<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/sobre_equipe_academica\/details\/297\" target=\"_self\">Maureen Santos, from the Socio Environmental Platform.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the presentations, the participants highlighted themes such as the\u00a0<strong>Brazilian contributions on the scope of climate negotiations<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>relation between poverty, vulnerability and climate<\/strong>, the<strong>\u00a0role of climate financing on the reduction of poverty<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>misbalance of investments destined to the areas of mitigation and adaptating<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alice Amorim, for example, discussed how the\u00a0<strong>\u201cresources for climate financing generate positive externalities in other areas of development\u201d<\/strong>, while Rafael de Soler, in the same line of argumentation, pointed out for the\u00a0<strong>necessity to invest in the operation of climate financing<\/strong>\u00a0that, according to Soler,<strong>\u00a0\u201creveals itself below the expectations of developing countries<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>When talking about the\u00a0<strong>human condition on the climate issue<\/strong>, Mariela di Ciommo analyzed how\u00a0<strong>poverty makes people \u201cmore vulnerable to the impacts of climate change\u201d<\/strong>, thus, making a connection between social and environmental problems.
