On 5-6 December 2018, GSUM\u2019s deputy coordinator and IRI\/PUC-Rio\u2019s professor Paula Drumond<\/a> participated in the UNESCO Expert Meeting \u201cMeasuring Intercultural Dialogue: Strengthening data to enhance impact on the ground<\/em>\u201d. The meeting was held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.<\/p>\n

The objectives of the expert meeting were two-fold: first, to discuss the appropriateness of the proposed dimensions, indicators, and data to be used within the Global Data Set on Intercultural Dialogue, and second, to explore how UNESCO can innovate in its operational offering to Member States in response to the data, in order to concretely support dialogue processes on the ground. Participants for the meeting were selected for their substantive experience in intercultural dialogue research and practice and\/or experience with measurement and data production.<\/p>\n

The meeting was part of a broader initiative dedicated to the development of a Global Data Set on Intercultural Dialogue, led by UNESCO in the context of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022) and against the backdrop of the United Nations Sustaining Peace Agenda. Through the collection of relevant data, the initiative aims to establish the relationship between intercultural dialogue and the promotion of development and security, as well as to determine the conditions which facilitate an effective mobilization of intercultural dialogue towards these outcomes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
