The event was organised by the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gip.net.br\/novo\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GIP (Public Interest Management)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0with the support of the\u00a0<strong>BRICS Policy Center.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The event saw a presentation by\u00a0<strong>Priti Darooka, executive director of the Indian organisation PWESCR<\/strong>\u00a0(Programme on Women&#8217;s Economic, Social and Cultural Rights) about the proposed creation of an\u00a0<strong>BRICS Feminist Observatory<\/strong>\u00a0to articulate feminist movements and questions of gender in the countries of the bloc. As well as this, it was highlighted by Paulo Esteves that, for the first time, the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/agenda\/interna\/930?secao=eventosRealizados\" target=\"_self\">BRICS Academic Forum<\/a><\/strong>, which will take place in Goa, India, will cover discussions about gender questions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Among the questions raised by the participants were the\u00a0<strong>recognition of the implications of women joining the work force<\/strong>, the<strong>\u00a0recognition of unremunerated work<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>sexual and reproductive rights<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>impacts of investment policy of the Bank of BRICS<\/strong>, and the\u00a0<strong>role of feminist economists in the creation of a new vision of development, among others.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The event saw representation of various non-governmental organisations and groups notable in the gender debate, among them:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/sobre_parceiros\" target=\"_self\">IBASE<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/homolog\/sobre_parceiros\" target=\"_self\">OXFAM<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN Women<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/br.boell.org\/pt-br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Heinrich Boll<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/riopluscentre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNDP&#8217;s Rio+ Centre<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fordfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ford Foundation<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equit.org.br\/novo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Equit Institute<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/europeanclimate.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Climate Foundation<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundosocialelas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fundo Elas<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pwescr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PWESCR<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.marchemondiale.org\/index_html\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Women\u2019s March<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0September 14, 2016\u00a0in the\u00a0BRICS Policy Center\u00a0took place the event\u00a0\u201cBRICS Feminist Civil Society Dialogue: Challenges, ideas and plans for the BRICS Summit in India 2016\u201d.
