Among them are\u00a0<strong>students and professors of PUC-Rio<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>exchange students<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>foreign researchers from partner institutions.<\/strong>\u00a0In line with this, we interviewed students from the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iri.puc-rio.br\/noticia\/detalhe\/214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Programme of Tutorial Education (PET) of the Institute of International Relations of PUC-Rio<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to illustrate their experiences in the BPC.<\/p>\n<p>The PET is\u00a0<strong>financed by the Brazilian Ministry of Education<\/strong>\u00a0and was created to promote a\u00a0<strong>highly specialized degree for the undergraduate students in International Relations at PUC-Rio.<\/strong>\u00a0According to<strong>\u00a0Bruno Magalh\u00e3es<\/strong>, IRI professor and coordinator of the programme, \u201cthe students selected are trained to achieve excellence in different abilities necessary for a successful career in academia and in other professions associated with research in international relations.<\/p>\n<p>Linked to the programme,\u00a0<strong>Vict\u00f3ria Figueiredo Machado<\/strong>, a student in the sixth semester of her course, has her research guided by the project\u00a0<strong><em>&#8220;Brasil Global: Desafios da inser\u00e7\u00e3o internacional brasileira em um mundo de transforma\u00e7\u00e3o&#8221;<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and confirms that her research abilities have greatly evolved thanks to the teaching and practical experience of the programme, which go beyond what is taught in the university. \u00a0<strong>Having the BPC as a workspace, according to her, is fundamental for the development of her research<\/strong>, since teaching materials, articles and books are available. Vict\u00f3ria also emphasizes the\u00a0<strong>research hubs of the center<\/strong>, which function as a reference point and allow contact with well-known researchers who are in the BPC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rachel Pires<\/strong>, also in her sixth semester, highlights the\u00a0<strong>analytical capacity<\/strong>\u00a0which develops while a student is in the PET programme, which she uses all the time in her degree work . Beyond the well-equipped environment,\u00a0<strong>Rachel highlights the events, debates and works organized by the Center<\/strong>, a fact that, according to her, allows students to come into contact with new ideas and different themes.\u00a0<strong>The regular meetings<\/strong>\u00a0in the center also help her to articulate her thoughts and reflections, giving support to her research and generating more academic works.<\/p>\n<p>Finally,\u00a0<strong>Danilo Bines<\/strong>, part of the new class at PET and in his fourth semester, divides the development of competencies enabled by the programme in two distinct, but complementary, levels:\u00a0<strong>the enhancement of techniques, reading and presentation;<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>and the theme of research at PET<\/strong>, which is always related to a current issue in Brazil. This semester, the theme was\u00a0<strong>\u201cHuman Rights in the Sphere of International Institutions\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection processes for the institution happen annually and are widely published by the Institute.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/iripet.wordpress.com\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit the new blog of the PET, created to attend to the needs of the students and professors for a space to share and publish the works produced.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a research center, the\u00a0BRICS Policy Center\u00a0has the pleasure of receiving many researchers every year.
