{"id":4200,"date":"2017-05-17T16:29:49","date_gmt":"2017-05-17T19:29:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devbrq.fazti.com.br\/?p=4200"},"modified":"2018-03-16T16:34:39","modified_gmt":"2018-03-16T19:34:39","slug":"brics-policy-center-participates-in-the-iv-roundtable-brazil-the-brics-and-the-international-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/en\/brics-policy-center-participates-in-the-iv-roundtable-brazil-the-brics-and-the-international-agenda\/","title":{"rendered":"BRICS POLICY CENTER PARTICIPATES IN THE &#8220;IV ROUNDTABLE BRAZIL, THE BRICS AND THE INTERNATIONAL AGENDA\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">On\u00a0<strong>May 16<sup>th<\/sup>, 2017<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/funag.gov.br\/index.php\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alexandre de Gusm\u00e3o Foundation (FUNAG)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itamaraty.gov.br\/en\/inter-regional-mechanisms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Inter-Regional Mechanisms of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0held the\u00a0<strong>IV Round table \u201cBrazil, the BRICS and the International Agenda\u201d<\/strong>. A total of four panels were organized. They dealt with topics such as\u00a0<strong>\u201cthe BRICS and the international insertion of Brazil\u201d<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>\u201cthe evolution of the BRICS from a partners perspective\u201d<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>\u201cBRICS&#8217; investments and financial cooperation\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and, to close the event,\u00a0<strong>&#8220;commercial policy cooperation&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Diplomats, scholars and representatives of the government were part of the event. The\u00a0<strong>BRICS Policy Center<\/strong>\u00a0was present and represented by its\u00a0<strong><a href=\"\/?p=1019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General Supervisor, Prof. Paulo Esteves<\/a><\/strong>. As a member of the first panel of debates, Esteves highlighted three points:\u00a0<strong>(i)<\/strong>\u00a0For Brazil, the group was an instrument to gain visibility and to contribute to the decentralization of power and to the reform of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs);\u00a0<strong>(ii)<\/strong>\u00a0Despite the prolific pressure to reform the IFIs, the group is divided into two different perspectives: the Chinese one, which emphasizes inter-regional dynamics through outreach; and the Russian perspective, which is aimed to bring geopolitics and the equilibrium of power back;\u00a0<strong>(iii)<\/strong>\u00a0It is important to recognize how much those perspectives have changed the group, as well as the transformations that occurred around the world and in Brazil in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Concerning the recommendations, the professor advised against crossed objectives and suggested the guarantee of a safe zone of actions.
