The Forum was a part of the series of official events preceding the\u00a0<strong>BRICS Summit<\/strong>\u00a0and focused on the topic\u00a0<strong>\u201cPooling Wisdom and New Ideas for Cooperation\u201d<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"\/?p=1131\" target=\"_self\">Professor S\u00e9rgio Veloso<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0represented the\u00a0<strong>BRICS Policy Center<\/strong>\u00a0and led the opening speech of the first table of the event, dealing with the topic\u00a0<strong>\u201cBRICS Cooperation under the new Circumstances: Opportunities and Challenges\u201d<\/strong>. This year&#8217;s edition of the\u00a0<strong>Academic Forum<\/strong>\u00a0was held simultaneously with the\u00a0<strong>3rd edition of the BRICS Civil Organizations Forum<\/strong>\u00a0and the first edition of the\u00a0<strong>BRICS Political Parties Forum.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Besides the unprecedented simultaneous organization of three forums, the Chinese government innovated by inviting representatives from more than\u00a0<strong>26 developing countries<\/strong>. Representatives from countries such as Argentina, Chile, Laos and Philippines, among others countries, participated actively in the three forums. They also made speeches during the opening and closing plenary sessions, that gathered the three forums delegations.<\/p>\n<p>The common declaration untitled\u00a0<strong>\u201cFuzhou Initiative\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was produced by the three forums as the final result of the event.
