{"id":4166,"date":"2017-06-26T14:51:26","date_gmt":"2017-06-26T17:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devbrq.fazti.com.br\/?p=4166"},"modified":"2018-03-16T14:56:25","modified_gmt":"2018-03-16T17:56:25","slug":"release-of-the-social-panorama-of-latin-america-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/en\/release-of-the-social-panorama-of-latin-america-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"RELEASE OF THE SOCIAL PANORAMA OF LATIN AMERICA 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0<strong>June 26th, 2017<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>BRICS Policy Center<\/strong>\u00a0hosted the release event of the\u00a0<strong>Social Panorama of Latin America 2016<\/strong>, organized in a partnership with the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepal.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/riopluscentre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Centre for Sustainable Development (Rio + Centre \/ UNDP)<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The event had\u00a0<strong><a href=\"\/?p=3876\" target=\"_self\">Prof. Isabel Rocha de Siqueira (IRI\/PUC-Rio)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0as moderator and counted with the participation of\u00a0<strong>La\u00eds Abramo<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Director of the Social Development Division of ECLAC<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>R\u00f4mulo Paes<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Director of the World Centre for Sustainable Development (Rio + Centre)<\/strong>. The report approaches inequality in Latin America as a structural challenge to the implementation of the\u00a0<strong>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>\u00a0in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The document innovates by disaggregating collected and produced data on income inequality and in terms of rights and opportunities in the matters of gender, race, and identity in the year of 2016. The presentations highlighted the importance of well-being and social inclusion public policies as an effort to mitigate these inequalities and alert to the reduction of social investment in Latin Americal, especially in Brazil.
