{"id":4160,"date":"2017-07-25T14:38:44","date_gmt":"2017-07-25T17:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devbrq.fazti.com.br\/?p=4160"},"modified":"2018-03-16T14:47:22","modified_gmt":"2018-03-16T17:47:22","slug":"brics-policy-center-at-the-data-for-sdg-17-how-to-measure-contributions-towards-agenda-2030-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bricspolicycenter.org\/en\/brics-policy-center-at-the-data-for-sdg-17-how-to-measure-contributions-towards-agenda-2030-debate\/","title":{"rendered":"BRICS POLICY CENTER AT THE \u201cDATA FOR SDG 17: HOW TO MEASURE CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS AGENDA 2030\u201d DEBATE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0<strong>July 17th, 2017<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/southernthinktanks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Network of Southern Think Tanks (NeST)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.undp.org\/content\/seoul_policy_center\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Nations Development Program Seoul Policy Centre (UNDP Seoul Policy Centre)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0hosted the debate\u00a0<strong>\u201cData for SDG 17: How to measure contributions towards agenda 2030\u201d<\/strong>, a side event to the \u201c<strong>ECOSOC High-Level Segment\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0that happened at the same day. The BRICS Policy Center will be present through the participation of its\u00a0<strong><a href=\"\/?p=1019\" target=\"_self\">General Supervisor, Prof. Paulo Esteves<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>that made\u00a0interventions along with other partners from Mexico, the OECD, the UN and Gates Foundation<\/p>\n<p>Achieving the ambitious targets of the 2030 Agenda requires a revitalized global partnership that brings together governments, civil society, the private sector, the United Nations system and other actors, and mobilizes all available resources. Furthermore, several proposals for new development finance measures have been suggested by the OECD and Northern think-tanks, but these discussions have not adequately included the perspectives and voices from the developing world, where such strengthening of statistical systems is most required.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, NeST and UNDP hosted the debate in\u00a0order to discuss how to improve data for the measurement of traditional and emerging development partner\u2019s contributions towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Prof. Paulo Esteves participated in two other side events on July 14th, 2017. The first one was organized to discuss the thematic and prepare the participants for the &#8220;Data SDG17&#8221;.
