The BRICS Policy Center was present through the participation of the researcher of the <a href=\"\/?p=1101\">Socioambiental Platform<\/a>, <a href=\"\/?p=2041\">Prof. Maria Elena Rodriguez.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event brought together representatives of civil society, academia and government to address issues such as: China&#8217;s economic reform process &#8211; the Go-Out strategy, its expansion and presence abroad; the environmental and social lines applied by Chinese companies abroad; the emergence of environmental NGOs in China; the emergence of environmental legislation in China; among others.<\/p>\n<p>A Prof. Maria Elena participated in the &#8220;China&#8217;s bilateral relations with Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina and Colombia&#8221; tables, which dealt with the economic and political context of bilateral relations with China; the present and the future of relations with China (by examining agreements, loans and trade); the new challenges for civil society in terms of participation, access to information, environmental and social impacts; and the social (collective and individual) impacts facing communities affected by the projects.
