\u201cSomaliland and the Dispute for Recognition in the Global Order: Implications for the BRICS+\u201d, by Marta Fern\u00e1ndez, director of the BRICS Policy Center, and Diana Ferreira, fellow at GSUM, analyzes how Israel’s recognition of Somaliland reopens central debates on sovereignty, international recognition, geopolitical competition, and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.<\/p>\n

The paper examines the impacts of this movement on actors such as China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, highlighting how the Somaliland case reveals different positions of the BRICS+ in the face of the transformations of the contemporary international order.<\/p>\n

The publication also discusses the growing strategic dispute in the Red Sea and the challenges posed to multilateralism.<\/p>\n
