hroughout November 26th, 27th, and 28th, the BRICS Policy Center at PUC-Rio held the III Workshop on Critical Approaches to Development, with the theme “What Knowledge for Ecological Justice?”, which brought together researchers, social leaders, and students to discuss the multiple layers that permeate the relationship between development, ecological justice, race, and territory.<\/p>\n

The roundtables highlighted the need to decentralize Eurocentric perspectives, broadening the understanding of development from situated experiences, territorial experiences, and diverse epistemologies present in Brazil and the Global South as a whole.<\/p>\n

Thus, the speakers offered reflections on business models within ecological justice logics, territorial impacts, the growing convergence between climate and development agendas, and the dialogues between theory and practice that are strengthened both in academia and in social mobilizations. The Working Groups had the opportunity to present their reflections and receive feedback, comments, and questions from the teachers and colleagues who were present during the three-day event.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, the workshop reinforced the importance of articulating local and global knowledge, integrating academic and territorial perspectives, and building pathways that recognize the multiple voices involved in the struggle for ecological justice.<\/p>\n
