The event was attended by 35 countries, including members, partners and guests, who over the course of the two days discussed various measures relating to politics and international cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the absence of personalities such as Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, the summit managed to generate progress in several areas. Brazil secured support for climate finance through the Tropical Forest Funds Forever (TFFF) initiative and announced that it will begin feasibility studies for the construction of a bioceanic railroad linking Brazil to Peru.<\/p>\n<p>After the first day of the summit, US President Donald Trump threatened to sanction countries that adhere to BRICS&#8217; \u201canti-American\u201d initiatives, and was criticized by the governments of Brazil and China.
