In the context of the fourth ministerial meeting of the CELAC Forum, held in Beijing on May 13, Prof. Marta Fern\u00e1ndez published an opinion article in the China Daily<\/em> newspaper titled \u201cDistant Yet Close Friends Back Multilateralism,\u201d<\/em> in which she highlights the importance of the forum on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.<\/p>\n

According to the professor, the China-CELAC Forum represents a joint commitment to multilateralism, South-South cooperation, and the construction of a fairer and more balanced world order. She points out that the meeting took place within a delicate geopolitical context, marked by the trade war between China and the United States.<\/p>\n

In this scenario, China\u2019s approach to Latin America reveals a distinct understanding of a region that has historically resisted colonialism and foreign domination\u2014an experience that China shares with other developing countries.<\/p>\n

In this way, the China-CELAC Forum establishes itself as a strategic bridge between regions that not only maintain trade relations but also share a more inclusive, sovereign, and multipolar worldview. At a time of global instability and the rise of unilateralism, Latin American support for institutions such as the UN and the WTO reflects the desire for fairer, more stable, and less asymmetric international norms.<\/p>\n
