Ana Garcia participated in Session II: “BRICS and the Strengthening of Global South Economies.”<\/em> In her speech, she reflected on the challenges of strengthening Global South economies, such as coordination and cooperation among BRICS+ countries. She highlighted topics like trade, investment, debt, taxation, and the reform of multilateral financial institutions. Additionally, she emphasized research by the BRICS Policy Center that compares Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Brazil and South Africa. According to the professor, Brazil\u2019s presidency of BRICS+ could support the creation of fairer financial structures, such as strengthening the Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA), using local currencies to mitigate the effects of external debt. Finally, she believes that BRICS+ can contribute to building a more inclusive, democratic, and sustainable international financial architecture if they act in a coordinated and cohesive manner, particularly in alignment with other developing countries.<\/p>\n
