On March 21, BPC Director, Professor Marta Fern\u00e1ndez, participated in the 1st National Seminar of the BRICS People’s Forum, themed “The Importance of BRICS in the New International Context.”<\/em> The event featured Paulo Nogueira Batista Jr. (Economist, former Vice President of the New Development Bank), Monica Bruckmann (Political Scientist, Professor at UFRJ), Miguel Stedile (MST\/Tricontinental Institute), and had the special participation of Ambassador Maur\u00edcio Carvalho Lyrio, Brazil\u2019s BRICS Sherpa.<\/p>\n

The BRICS People’s Forum is part of the bloc\u2019s social pillar, known as \u201cPeople-to-People\u201d (P2P), which aims to strengthen cooperation among member countries through civil society and other non-governmental actors.
