On March 17th, the BRICS Policy Center hosted the lecture “Dialectical Assumptions About Socialism and Planning in Today’s China.” On this occasion, Elias Jabbour, president of IPP (Instituto Pereira Passos), presented an update on his research of the same name and previewed part of his upcoming book, in which he explores the concept of the Chinese “planning society.”<\/p>\n

Challenging conventional wisdom, Elias examines China’s growing influence on the international stage, disputing standard interpretations that frame this experience within fixed analytical categories. Instead, he proposes a new rational determination based on the concept that manifests in real movement.<\/p>\n

He advocates for a dialectical perspective that considers the whole, arguing that the humanities cannot progress without a philosophical foundation. Drawing from the thoughts of Hegel, Marx, and Lenin, he seeks to understand contemporary China.<\/p>\n
