During the event, Carlos Frederico presented the research developed in his Policy Brief (\u201cProtectionism and Rising Challenges to Ensuring the Developing World’s Priorities in the G20 Agenda\u201d), in collaboration with five experts, which analyzes, among other points, how protectionism and various forms of subsidies disproportionately impact developing countries, restricting their participation in trade and making their sustainable development efforts more expensive. Both the presentation and the Policy Brief offer recommendations for tackling this challenge, such as the need for re-globalization through a revised and specific agreement on subsidies, which includes an analysis of the effectiveness of the WTO’s core functions.
