And in 2023, despite the growing challenges, civil society showed resilience, making a difference and continuing the fight for human rights and social justice.<\/p>\n<p>The report points out that international institutions are failing amid the misguided decisions of states, exposing the weaknesses of the International System. However, as shown, civil society has solutions to reform global governance, but is often excluded from the decision-making tables. The CIVICUS Report points out that it is time for leaders to listen to and work with civil society to tackle global crises such as growing conflicts, climate change and inequality. Change will only be possible with more open, democratic and accountable governance.
