The aim of the event was to discuss proposals on tax cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>We were represented by Professors Ana Garcia (coordinator of G20 Task Force 3 on Reforming the International Financial Architecture) and Maureen Santos (coordinator of the Socio-Environmental Platform).<\/p>\n<p>Among the main proposals discussed at the event were the taxation of large fortunes and the super-rich, support for the creation of the United Nations Commission on International Tax Cooperation, increased transparency and access to information on countries&#8217; public accounts, as well as the incorporation of relevant principles of racial, gender and environmental justice related to the distribution of public resources from taxes.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting is an unprecedented initiative within the G20! Do you know what it resulted in? A document of civil society proposals was delivered to the Minister of Finance and head of the Financial Track, Fernando Haddad. This document will be added to a report on the taxation of large fortunes to be incorporated into the G20 negotiations under the Brazilian presidency.
