BRICS<\/span> Think Tanks <\/span>Council <\/span><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”normal” border_style=””][vc_column_text css=””]Established in 2013, the BRICS Think Tank Council (BTTC) is formed by research centers designated by each of the BRICS member countries, upon nomination by their respective governments. Its main function is to promote the exchange of ideas and cooperation between researchers, academics and other research institutions. The BTTC is chaired by the think tank of the country holding the rotating BRICS presidency that year.<\/p>\n

The BTTC aims to strengthen, promote and develop cooperation in research activities, knowledge sharing, capacity building and the formulation of public policy recommendations for the BRICS countries. Its duties include: holding regular meetings at least once a year; organizing the BRICS Academic Forum (FABRICS); preparing policy recommendations to be submitted to the leaders of the group; identifying priority areas for cooperation; conducting joint studies; facilitating exchange programs between member countries; and supporting the production of strategic knowledge in the respective nations.[vc_empty_space]<\/p>\n

BRICS Policy Center researchers have participated since the first edition of the BRICS Academic Forum<\/strong>. The meetings deal with different themes and bring together experts and researchers from academic communities, as well as members and representatives of civil society, and usually take place before the BRICS Summit in the host country that year. At the end of each Forum, the participating institutions produce a document with long-term recommendations for the BRICS, which is delivered to the heads of state. In the context of Brazil’s presidency of BRICS in 2025, the BTTC’s main priority will be to contribute to the institutional strengthening of the bloc. In addition, the thematic priorities defined by the Brazilian presidency will also guide the recommendations made to the leaders and will be debated in specific sessions during the 17th BRICS Academic Forum (FABRICS).[vc_empty_space]
\nAmong the planned deliverables are:
\n(1)<\/strong> the BTTC’s document of recommendations to BRICS leaders;<\/p>\n

(2)<\/strong> the publication of the Research Report entitled Portfolio on BRICS cooperation mechanisms; and<\/p>\n

(3)<\/strong> the organization of the 17th FABRICS itself. The Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) represents Brazil in the BTTC.[vc_empty_space]<\/p>\n
